Gifts and Donations 

Donations Guidelines

The Library accepts donations of recent books, books on CD, music CDs, and DVDs. Donations must be clean and in excellent condition. We cannot accept donations of old magazines, textbooks, or encyclopedias.

Donated materials immediately become the property of the Library and cannot be returned.
Some donations may be added to the collection or sold in our book sale.

Please do not bring in more than one box of items.
The Library has very limited storage space.

If you need a receipt for tax purposes, the Library will provide one.
We cannot, however, assign a dollar value to your donation.

You may want to consider donating items that don't fit our guidelines to resale stores such as Goodwill Industries or St. Vincent de Paul Society.

LIBRARY MISSION:

The Bedford Public Library is committed to providing materials and services needed to meet the life-long educational, informational, and recreational needs of our citizens.

There are several gift giving opportunities that will help the Library achieve this mission.

MONETARY GIFTS:

Gift funds are often used to support special programs that cannot be funded with tax monies.

Donations to the Bedford Public Library are tax deductible. Gift giving opportunities are listed below:

* Programs for library customers of all ages - This includes special presentations by authors and performances for children.

* Summer reading program - Reading related incentive prizes are awarded to encourage children to read throughout the summer.

* Memorial contributions - Gifts in memory or in honor of a loved one or friend are welcome. Staff will select materials and place a commemorative plate in each item.

Memorial contributions may also be made to a program fund.

GIFTS OF TIME:

Volunteer to help with the homebound delivery program. Call 812-278-5250 for information.
