Computer Lab
Guidelines for Usage:

Library
computer workstations may not be used to view sexually explicit material. If a library staff member observes a person viewing
such material, that person will be directed to remove the material from
the computer screen and refrain from viewing such material in the
future. You will be warned two (2) times and on the third time,
you will lose your Internet privileges. Any person who refuses to
comply with these directions will be asked to leave the library
premises.

Any type
of interactive communication is restricted to adults 18 and over. This includes email, chat, creating web pages, newsgroups
and games. If you are
under 18 and engage in any of these activities, you will be asked to
stop. You will be warned two (2) times and on the third time, you
will lose your Internet privileges. The library board has adopted
this policy to protect minors.

You must have your
own library card with
you to use the computers.

Library staff can
help you start the program, but cannot provide tutoring or
hands-on assistance.

You may download
files from the Internet to save and take with you, but staff
cannot provide assistance with downloading. If you wish to save
a file, you may purchase a 3.5 floppy disk from the library for $1.00.

Only programs
provided by the library may be used on the library's computers.

Children under 14
must use the computers in the Children's/YA department on the 2nd floor
of the library.

Persons 14 and
over must use the computer lab.

Computers may be
shared but noise must be kept to a minimum.
Computer Lab Hours:
The lab will
close 15 minutes before the rest of the library.

Each lab user is
limited to one session per day with a two hour maximum. This means that
each person using the lab may have one hour of computer use per day.
The session may be extended to a maximum of two hours if no one is
waiting.

There are no
charges for using the computers.
Equipment and
Software available in the lab:

Compaq Evo D510, Pentium IV, 2.00 GHz computers with 256 MB RAM running
Windows XP

Hewlett-Packard
Laser Printer for all computers.

All
computers are connected to the Internet via T1 and have Internet
Explorer 6 and Office 2000 including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

arising from use of Internet services.
